Humble Beginnings

Mubotics had its rookie season in 2018 out of Brea Olinda High School. Students had little to no resources,
and had to work our of various garages everyday all night to build a robot that they could compete with.
Despite the obstacles, Team 7157 was able to compete at the 2018 Orange County Regional where they were
semi-finalists and won the Rookie All-star Award. The Rookie All-star Award allowed the team to go to the
Houston World Championships in their very first season of competing.
The Future

Mubotics plans to continue to build robots and to continue spreading STEM and engineering throughout the
Brea and Sunny Hills community. They hope to continue to develop the STEM-oriented pathway they have
inspired in their district to develop the next generation of engineers.
Following the 2018 season, Mubotics partnered with Fullerton school, Sunny Hills High School, that gave them
a build space to work out of as well as valuable team members that would become integral parts of the team.
When the 2020 season hit, the team was extremely excited and motivated for the season, however after the first
week of competitions, the COVID-19 pandemic hit,
causing the competitions to shut-down. The team lost motivation after all of the countless hours they had spent working on
the robot had seemingly been done for nothing. The team hit its darkest moment and it nearly shut down until Eric Gever,
a mentor of Polyrabbotics, offered the team the opportunity to create face shields for frontline workers. This project
brought the team back to life and led them to a successful 2021 season at home.
What is FIRST?
More Info
FIRST Robotics Competition, the Ultimate Sport for the Mind™, is a high school robotics competition
where thousands of high schoolers throughout the world partake in an annual competition. Each year,
on the first Saturday of January, students are introduced to the year’s game, and from that moment,
students hit the ground running building a robot. However, students face a 6-week time constraint
to build their robot before the competitions start. Throughout the season, FIRST students use STEM
skills to solve the countless problems they are bound to encounter while building a robot.
Of course, the students are not alone, and have fantastic mentors that help guide them through the
process and make an ever-lasting impact on their students' lives.
Gracious Professionalism - FIRST is more than just building robots, it is about being a good person
and helping those around you be successful. FIRST emphasizes Gracious Professionalism to make the
competition and the world a better place. Students help other students be successful, and thus FIRST
is all about cooperition, cooperating with one another while simultaneously competing with one another.
